Pressure Washer Maintenance Guide
With good care and maintenance on regular basis, you ensure that your pressure washer becomes more durable and withstands the wear and tear of the long use.
Here is a simple maintenance guide that helps you to learn some basic things and tips on increasing the life of your pressure washer.

Extension hose
Whenever you use pressure washer, make sure that there is no dirt on the inlet filter. The inlet filter should be cleaned, before use. To clean it, remove the water hose that is connected to water supply. Then, remove the inlet nozzle and take the inlet filter out. Place the filter under the running water or use a small brush to remove the dirt off the filter.

Pressure washer rotating nozzle
The nozzle needs to be checked to see if any debris is blocking the holes. Before cleaning the nozzle, remove the washer hose from the water supply. Let the pressurized water to flush through the nozzle. If needed, use a tiny needle to clean the fine holes on the nozzle. While cleaning the nozzle, take care that you do not widen the holes on the nozzle.
Check to see the water flow is constant, when you press the trigger. Remove the water lance and attach the water supply hose and press the trigger. Once the water flow is adjusted properly, turn on the pressure washer.
Make sure that there is sufficient length of hose (say 10 meters) between the pressure washer and the water supply (water tap). Check to see that hose is not twisted and uncoiled. Usually, the water hose of ½” should be used with your pressure washer. It is a good idea to use the valve that prevents back flow. This valve should be attached at the end of the water supply hose. Always make sure that a full flow connector is used to attach the hose with the pressure washer.
When you use long cable or extension wires, make sure that it is uncoiled and untwisted. Check to see that the connections and wires are in good condition and are not defective. If you find any damaged cable or wire, replace the cable and then, use your pressure washer.
It is a good idea to use RCD or Residual Current Device, when you use pressure washer outdoors.
It is highly dangerous to touch the electrical parts like mains plug or socket, when your hands are wet.
When extension cable is used, check to see that the cable is not lying in water as it may lead to electrocution.
After using your pressure washer, clean the machine casing with cloth. Every month, check the physical conditions of hoses, connectors, pipes, cables, plugs etc. If any part is found in bad condition, do not hesitate to replace it. Likewise, clean the nozzle and inlet filter once a month.
What should I do when my pressure washer does not start?
If the pressure washer does not start, there could be many reasons for it. Check out for the following causes:
- Pressure washer requires specified voltage to work. If there is less or much higher voltage, the machine may not work.
- The socket could be defective. If so, change it.
- Check to see if the extension wire is in good condition. If the extension cable is damaged, the machine will not get power.
- If the pressure washer has run for longer time, it could be over heated. So, turn off the machine for ten or fifteen minutes so ii cools off.
